Artist Biography

Helga Freyer

Lives and works in South West Germany (near the French/Alsace border).

After working in her chosen profession as a qualified architect, she decided to follow her creative instincts and strong colour sense. She started to draw, paint and work with etchings and water colour washes.

A decade ago she discovered her passion for ‘beautiful writings’. Since then her work has mainly consisted of a mix of calligraphy, etchings, drawings and water colours. She uses a wide variety of texts and subjects to work with.

She regularly exhibits in England, Germany (Cloisters of Hornbach) and Finland. Her themes include ‘healing plants’ (medieval poems by H.Bock about herbal remedies) plants and flowers.

‘Pets’ was the theme of her exhibition in London in 2004 (Naked Turtle, London SW14) and ‘Finish Sagas’ for her Exhibition in Helsinki in 2005.

At present she is working on her next exhibition, texts and etchings about wine, which will be shown in a vineyard in Hessen, Germany (address to follow).

Click on Exhibitions for details of where her latest work can be seen.

She welcomes commissions. These have included: favourite poems, songs, texts, flowers, animals, best wishes and blessings for anniversaries, weddings and special occasions and illustrations. (Use Contact page to get in touch.)
