Artist Biography

Lotz

I completed an MA Art and Design in 2005 at Loughborough University School of Art and Design, prior to that I was awarded a BA (Hons) in Illustration with LUSAD also. Whilst completing my BA I was sponsored by a flooring company which enabled me to produce large scale lino cut prints, which I specialised in producing during that time.
Throughout my artistic career I have been fascinated by human interaction and beauty, particarly in nature and women.
I'm inspired by images from film stills, advertising and magazines and use carefully chosen figures for reference. I like to take these images out of their original context and place them into my own imagined environments. These environments are often surreal or mythical based.
This year (2008) I was part of a group show in Visual Imprints artspace in Brighton where I exhibited a collection of my drawings, mixed media pieces and paintings and prior to that have exhibited my earlier works which were prints, in two exhibitions held by the Printmakers Council in 2005 and 2006.
I am currently working on various sized mixed media pieces and large scale complex drawings.
